Hacking U.Go 6 x 8 Pochade Box

 

All components for hack. U.Go 6 x 8 pochade box, 5 x 8 sketch book, metal pencil box (converted to hold 1/2 w/c pans) and DYI accessory tray.











 
Accessory tray.
 Magnetic strips added to base. 1 x 3/4 inch strip of wood with two 1/4 round magnets and metal bracket that corresponds with magnets on U.Go box.





Metal paper clips added to 5 x 8 sketchbook attach to magnets on open U.Go box.

Sketchbook, accessory tray and paint box attached to U.Go box.

 Attached to tripod.

'Hack' set up for using watercolor board/pad.

Wet Panel Holder

This 9 by 12 wet panel holder is made with coroplast, duct tape and Velcro. The spacers are coroplast cut to width (approx. .25 inches) and super glued in place; spaced to allow two 1/8 inch wide panels to fit in the holder. The cover is closed with two Velcro strips. Corners and sides are covered with black duct tape.

Repurposed table easel

Removed the handle and installed it on the opposite side. Installed a pair of garment hooks on the side where the handle was.
The easel hooks onto the tripod. Make sure that the rear leg is shorter than the front ones. This will balance the unit and take the weight of the box off the front legs.


This should give the same storage space as a half french easel with less weight and set up hassle.
