Gluing canvas on panels

Glued preprimed canvas to three gessoed wood panels using Elmer's Glue-All and Titebond. The Titebond sealed all around but the Elmer's required additional gluing at some of the corners.

'A study in blue' was done in the morning. 'A study in red' was done in the afternoon. These still life paintings were done using the still life setup I created last week. I made a panel holder this morning that could hold the 6 x 6 panels and is flexible enough to hold larger panels as well.

What might have been

.

Acrylic and Gouache
On Canvas
Started with a base of Atelier Interactive acrylics. I found that the Interactive pealed off when I went over them, even though dry to the touch. Finished the painting with a combination of Acryla Gouache and Golden Acrylics. Some of the paint lifted off when I applied varnish. I assumed that what lifted was the Acryla as I never had the problem with the Golden in the past. The Acryla is supposed to dry water resistant, I probably did not give it time enough to thoroughly dry.

Tea Time

Tea Time

Acrylics on Board
I sketched this onto a gessoed masonite board with vine charcoal. After it was 'fixed' with fixative, I covered the board with a wash of yellow ochre. When that was dry, I went over the outline with a red inktense block which I misted with water to let it run. I then started painting with acrylics using a mixture of Golden Flow White Zinc and Golden Glazing Fluid instead of water to thin the paint. Since acrylics dry darker than the initial color the addition of the zinc white lightens the color when dry. I find that it is easier to darken a color with a wash if it dries too light.

Working Boat
8 1/4 x 12
Acrylics

Since acrylics dry darker than when first applied, I added a mixture of zinc white and acrylic flow medium to the colors in this painting. It helped the paint to flow smoother and the paint dried lighter than  normal. I will next try mixing the colors with fluid zinc white to see if there is any change in tone or flow.
